5 out of 5 V3 31 is the real deal

    Ed Carter

Stopped by Broken Rack Archery in Batavia, OH (Top Notch Owner and Crew) to get new cables and string on my Halon. Ended up walking out with a new V3 31 in ambush green. This bow is rock solid, easy to hold on target, dead in hand, and the quietest bow I have ever shot! I have been shooting Mathews for about 12 years and I have to say this is the best one yet.

5 out of 5 Traverse replacement

    Mike Adrian

I got my V3 31 in early January. I wasn’t sure when I bought it if I would like it more than my Traverse. I have to say I do. It’s quieter, less vibration and lighter. The back wall is also firmer. I was worried it wouldn’t hold on target as well. It is every bit as steady as the traverse. This bow made me realize how loud the fletching is! It’s so quiet, the arrow makes more noise than the bow. I enjoy shooting this bow more than any bow I have ever owned. All this said, I won’t be selling the Traverse anytime soon. It’s also a keeper.

Over the years I have owned and shot quite a few bows. Once this bow is dialed in for you, it’s amazing! I went from shooting 8” shot groups to shooting 1” shot groups. It will definitely be my last bow, I absolutely love it.

This bow is quite, lightweight, forgiving and fast.

5 out of 5 Ridiculous. Simply the best I have ever shot.

    Jomar S. Roberts I, MD

I literally had to write a review out of good conscience. Listen up folks, I have had this bow for two weeks. Tuned a little, nothing fancy, I prefer a simple set up. But the pictures say it all. A quarter-sized group at 40 yards? I’m no expert at archery, Lord willing this level of quality translates into my first buck!

Thank you for showing how American fastidiousness is done! Great tool guys, God bless and great hunting!

    5 out of 5 A definite shooter!

    CJ

I’ve shot 3D-IBO and been an avid bow hunter most of my adult life. I was never a fan of Mathews (I thought it was overrated) and always shot a different brand. Let me tell you first hand, this bow blew me away. From zero hand shock to the best back wall I’ve ever experienced in a dual cam bow, it is a definite shooter. Mathews has set the bar on this one and I don’t think it’ll be topped.

Ok, so I paid my dues. Recurve, to cheap Amazon SAS bow to a used Mathews Halon 6 that I refurbished with Triax cams, and axles. The V3 is nothing less than an engineering marvel and a total joy to shoot. The Halon was something, but this is something else. The draw cycle is extremely smooth with a solid back wall. I do not feel a valley anywhere. I scoffed at the presence of only one harmonic dampener on this bow, compared to the Halon 6, but it outperforms my old bow. The 31 inch ATA is very forgiving. I have to be careful to shoot off center so as to not damage arrows. I cannot say enough good things about this bow.

5 out of 5 The V3 is LEGIT!

    Kenny Thompson

Mathews has knocked it out of the park with this bow. Both the 31 and the 27 are as balanced of a bow as I’ve ever shot. The new cable guard design is genius and allows more fletching clearance than any bow ever. I didn’t think they could make a bow any quieter than the VXR but they did. This bow is dead in the hand with no vibration and has a smooth draw cycle with a solid back wall. Great job Mathews!

    Andrew Aleksich

I went into my local archery shop (Full Curl – Anchorage AK) and was curious to try out the V3. I have been shooting a Halon 6 and wanted to see how it compared. After 2 shots, I was sold. This bow is rock sold stable and I was shooting ultra tight groups right out of the gate. Way beyond impressed!

5 out of 5 The guys who say it's a halon or the same as past bows... NOT

    Shane Gouldthread

Waiting on mine as we speak. I can’t begin to count the thousands of arrows I’ve put out of my bows. For the guys who say this is just another spin from the halon, vertix, and vxr.. it might look similar but this beast is it’s own being. I went back in to my local shop and shot countless arrows out of the vxr and the v3. The v3 shot and felt better in my hand. I can’t wait to add this bow into my hands for the 2022 season ahead. Mathews did it again, hats off boys.

    Phil Baltazor

Shot the V3 31” at my local bow shop. It was dead in the hand and a great back wall. Extremely smooth drawing and unbelievably quite. This is for sure the best of the best bows I have ever shot. I liked it so much I came back to the dealer three days later and ordered one. Great job Mathews on the V3 design. Always amazed with your development and research Team but never surprised for you have always been the leader and initiator in the Bow world.

5 out of 5 My third Mathews is a charm

    Scott Jacobson

In 2001 I switched to Mathews. A Q2 that lasted until 2016 when I bought a HTX No Cam. The V3 is the best bow I put in My hand. It seems I can count on Mathews to provide the best bow I can spend My hard earned money on. This is My 50th year of whitetail hunting and I know I have the best tool for the hunt. Absolutely the smoothest draw and least recoil of any bow I have had. I can’t imagine how Mathews can improve the V3, But I already said that twice! I still own My first two Mathews bows and shoot them to give my V3 a rest.

    Perry Miller

I mainly hunt these days after 40 years bow archery experience and I was hesitant to get a shorter ATA bow. After seeing the V3 in person the longer riser design is cutting edge and real. The bows feel and shoot like a longer ATA bow but pack like a shorter bow which I wouldn’t have thought possible unless I shot it for myself. Super quiet and fast in my 27.5-inch draw because of the replaceable modules which tends to suffer a bit with adjustable module designs. Great hunting bow!

    Jonathan

This is my first flagship level bow, and coming from a diamond infinite edge pro, this is a whole other level of bow. I am a novice archer, but reached a level of precision and consistency I could not have imagined with my previous bow. I shot a 4 inch 3 shot group at 80 yards the first session I ever shot more than 50 yards. I am not always able to perform that well, but knowing the bow is that capable makes shorter 20 and 35 yard hunting range shots feel almost easy. I love this bow.

5 out of 5 Tagged Out with my V3

    Dustin

I’m an Arizona archery elk hunter and when I got drawn this year I knew I was going to upgrade my system and went to a local shop to check out bows. Shot one arrow through the V3 31 and was sold. So quiet and smooth I genuinely enjoy just shooting this system.

I did a hike and shoot with 3D targets and was just on the whole time. I dropped two center ring shots on a 3D elk target at 136 yards using my black gold 5 pin sight, which gave me confidence for my upcoming hunt.

I harvested my elk on the second day of my hunt, took an 80 yard shot with confidence and had a clean hit on his vitals. It couldn’t have been a better hunt, the V3 just performed well. My local shop Bull Basin Archery kept me dialed in and on which helped a bunch too.

Super happy with this bow and couldn’t recommend it enough for hunting.

    Michael Green

I bought the Mathews V3 31 two weeks ago and I’ve been shooting it so much that my shoulder hurts. It’s light, super quiet, accurate and fast. I had to stop shooting tight groups because I started breaking nocks. Also with the let off this bow has I can easily hold it and take my time making my shot. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality hunting bow. It may seem a little pricey but compared to cheaper bows on the market this one is definitely worth what you pay for it.

5 out of 5 This bow is so stinking quiet

    Andrew

Unbelievable how quiet and dead in the hand this bow is. And it’s so stable. Definitely feels like you’re shooting a bow that is a few inches longer. I was a little worried about the short brace height but it honestly doesn’t feel any less forgiving than others at 6.5-7”.

Probably the only thing I could say I’d like to see changed is the top hat system. Makes it near impossible for the normal consumer to tinker with their bow without diving in deep. I’m being nit picky with that because it doesn’t make me regret going with a v3.

    Dillon Luce

I’ve shot a different brand for years. Never thought I would buy outside of that brand. I tested them all this time. I tried the 27 and the 31. Im a taller guy with a long draw. The 27 anchor point was rough to meet. ( just uncomfortable) the 31 was perfect. I shot between the RX5 and the V3 (31) long story short my Mathews is on order just have to wait 4 weeks.

First, a big thanks to Tyler and the Miedema’s over at Long Range Archery (Holland MI). Top shelf experience all the way around while they helped guide the process. I shot several really nice “flagship” bows, and realized quickly why Mathews are so highly regarded. Vibration, or lack there of in the V3, was the deciding factor for me personally. Pretty certain my brother, a long time Mathews guy, had no intention of walking out with a new V3 that day as well…Looking forward to October!

I don’t ever think there will be a need for me to ever shoot any other brand but Mathews. I love that they have the ability to get all the accessories with it too. Hopefully in 2021 we can get some antlers hung with it.

5 out of 5 Honestly a Better Bow

    Jon

I upgraded from a Vertix to the V3, and I can honestly say it’s a noticable evolution from that model. I was pulling 4 pounds heavier draw weight without noticing, I felt more stable at full draw and could hold on target longer, and noticed how light and maneuverable the bow felt. I had only been shooting it a few weeks when I split my arrow at 50 yards. It’s an amazing bow and not just hype.

    5 out of 5 Upgrade to Mathews V3 31" from Halon 32

    Ben

I was introduced to Mathews with a Halon 32, a life changing upgrade from the Bowtech I had previously. After a few years, I decided it was worth looking at the latest bows and after a few shots through the V3 31″, couldn’t resist. Picked one up, brought it home and set it next to my Halon 32 and honestly was a little embarrassed thinking I paid a bunch of money for the same bow – they look pretty similar. However, I took them both to the range the next day and wow…. couldn’t believe how much quieter and more “dead in hand” the V3 shoots. Arrows touching groups at 50 yards on my first day with the bow, can’t beat Mathews!

5 out of 5 Flat Amazing!

    Steve Stone

This is the best Bow Mathews has ever built. I have been an avid archer for over 35 years.
I have owned many other brand bows and many Mathews bows.

I truly didn’t think anything could ever be better than my Z7, that bow was truly magical and light years ahead of the competition.
Comfortable, smooth, pleasant to shoot, accurate and forgiving…. and this new V3 is all of those things and even more!
I bought mine at Bull Basin in Flagstaff. (shout out to Mav and the guys there who go above and beyond.)

The center guard is spectacular! an engineering feat and once again way ahead of the competition.
(a little tricky to find a rest that fits it…. we chose the Hamskea)

If I could find one thing to complain about it would only be the grip. It’s a touch narrow and I am also nostalgic for the wood etched grips.
The V3 design is stellar and the engineers should be congratulated. Its so quiet.

I don’t know how you guys are going to improve on this one!
