Mathews has excelled again with the VXR. The 28″ model is the most balanced bow I’ve shot. Not only is it the smoothest, quietest bow I’ve ever seen but it has the power behind it. It is the perfect hunting bow for the serious bowhunter.

Just when you think you’ve got the perfect bow Mathews tops it every year. I’ve owned nothing but a Mathews the past. 9-10 years. I bought the Triax and thought it couldn’t get any better. Only problem was I’m older and not as stable as I once was so I was on the fence over the VXR 28 or 31.5. I mostly treestand hunt so I took a chance on the 28. Not disappointed at all. The bow shoots like a 30″.

I have been a bow hunter for 20 years and I was a big fan of bowtech, until I made the switch to the new VXR 28. This bow shoots dead in the hand, very well balanced and the quietest bow i have ever shot. I don’t think I will have to buy another bow for a while because I’m truly impressed with this bow. Mathews is top notch quality and way ahead of any competitors.

I’ve been faithful to another bow manufacturer for many many years. Shot the VXR and was completely blown away. It’s the most perfect bow I’ve ever shot. It’s almost like Mathews built it specifically for me. Everything from the grip, balance, draw, and back wall is exactly what I’ve been looking for. My confidence in my equipment has skyrocketed. I’m now the proud owner of the VXR 28 and can’t wait to start filling my tags.

I like that you brought the switch weight to the smaller platform having the option to move poundage and not loosing the smoothness of the draw makes this bow both stealthy and deadly

5 out of 5 Best Hunting Bow I've ever owned.

    Josh Smith

I have owned the VXR 28 for about a month now and absolutely love it. I have owned a lot of bows over the past 20 years and this is by far the best hunting bow I have ever owned. It is quite, fast, and very balanced. It really does hold like a target bow. Being confident in my equipment is the number one ingredient to success and this bow truly does inspire confidence. I say every year I don’t know how Mathews will be able to produce a better bow the next year but this one will be tough to beat. Thanks, Josh

    Chuck Vankirk

This bow is by far the best in the industry! It’s a phenomenal bow that is smooth to the draw and has a great follow through because of it being top heavy. Mathews has once again broke through the ceiling and remains at the top dog of this industry!

    5 out of 5 1st hunt, 2 Pigs Down

    Dane Clark

I slipped into a heard of pigs in the East TX woods on the 1st time hunting with the new VXR 28. The bow shoots so quietly its unbelievable. I shot through the 1st pig broad side in side of 20 yards, about a 125lb sow, and she and a couple of the pigs ran off. The rest had no clue. The 2nd pig was a 40lber quartering away. Arrow entered in front of left hip and stopped in the right eye socket. Shooting 30″ full metal jacket pushing a Rage NC extreme hypodermic broadheads. Draw wt 70lbs, draw length 29″. This is the 1st hunt since transitioning back to a compound from my longbows. The VXR makes my old compounds look like they were made in the 1930s…smoother, faster, more drop off, and extremely consistent. The short bow is much easier track through the thick timber as well.

This is the sixth Mathews bow I’ve owned, every one a great product. Being a lefty it’s more difficult to try new products when they hit the market. This is the first 28” ata I’ve tried and being 6’1’ I thought the 31 1/2 would be a better fit , however this 28 changed my mind. I must say I like it even better than my 30” Vertix and that’s saying a lot! Don’t let the shorter ata stop you from giving it a try. A pure joy to shoot. Fast quiet and very accurate, maneuvers in any hunting situation. Unbeatable combo for a great hunting rig. Good job Mathews.

I am left handed but have shot right handed before just not as well as left handed. I won a VXR 28 at a banquet a few weeks ago and set the bow up. The smooth draw of this bow is unbelievable. I had shoulder surgery 2.5 months ago and was able to pull back 55 pounds with my non dominant arm. I am driving tacks with this bow. Smoothest bow I have ever shot hands down.

I was at Bennetts Archery getting my older bow checked over and I ask what the newest and latest bow he had. He put his personal VXR in my hamd and let me shoot it. From my first draw back I knew this was a special bow and I haven’t even fired it. Then I hit the release tigger and fell deep in love with i there was little to no noise. It didn’t torque or shake and felt so natural like it was a part of my body and very different from my old bow. He said keep shooting it and I put a few down range and became more comfortable with it. I put it down and he said to keep shooting I told him that if I did I’d be leaving with one. He said your going to be back, he was right and i return a few weeks later to purchase one of my own. I’ve already harvest a deer with it and I’m sure it want be the last. I try and shoot it every day it’s becoming my good addiction. Thank you for a Quality well thought out product. >>>————————->

Coming into buying this bow, I knew it was going to be a smooth shooter. But after shooting 1,000s of arrows through it, it is hands down the most deadly bow money can buy! The bow has absolutely no hand vibration, a smooth draw cycle, amazing speeds with heavy arrows (I shoot a 445 grain arrow) Also, it is an extremely quiet bow. The VXR feels just like a target bow just packed into a 28 ATA. The VXR is the perfect bow for the serious bowhunter.

This bow is perfectly balanced, compact, deadly silent, and packs very tight groups. The VXR is the best all around hunting compound bow I have ever held. The 28” is ideal for tree stand, saddle, or climber hunting. If you want to shoot bigger bucks, Mathews bows are a must have for any avid compound bow hunter.

I’ve been shooting Mathews bows for years and the VXR is no slouch. I shoot the VXR 28. It’s smooth draw cycle is great, the weight of the bow is light even with all the accessories, most importantly, it’s damn quiet. I will be shooting this magnificent bow for many of years. Thanks for yet another great shooting bow Mathews!

I would like to thank Taylor Johnson at Performance Archery in San Diego, California, for building this custom bow for me. These guys know what their doing! Thanks Taylor!

Well… I’ve had a few bows over past 30 years, Browning, Parker, Bear, PSE then Bowtec. I’d have to say this is the quietest, smoothest, vibration free bow I’ve ever owned or shot. I can’t not really hear any noise from this bow just hear the arrow when it hits the target. I haven’t got to hunt with it yet but I see no reason I won’t take a deer or hog with this bow. Again it’s really quite and pretty well vibration free. I guess you do get what you pay for. Hats off to Mathews….. a really nice bow.

Ive been a die hard Mathews guy since buying the Heli back in 2012. Since then I’ve had the No Cam, Halon, and Vertix and after shooting the vertex I didn’t think it could be outdone, boy was I wrong. After seeing the VXR I went to a local dealer and shot it, and the Draw cycle was as smooth as butter and it was the most dead in hand bow I’ve ever shot. Comparing to the Vertix they really did get more vibration out and the weight is perfect. Do yourself a favor and go shoot one of these.

I purchased my VXR28 From Reedy’s Archery, Chris the owner gave me the run down about Mathews He let me try a few bows but in the end he knew exactly which bow i would like. Ive waited a long time to get back into this. This Bow in my opinion is the Ferrari of bows. It shoots so smooth & quiet its exhilarating to shoot this bow. I have the Mathews Ultrarest Integrate MX which speaks for itself. I feel the engineering of this bow is beyond perfect. Love it

I recently obtained a 2018 Triax and loved the bow. I started researching the VXR and finally went to my local Archery Pro shop to test one out. Needless to say, I am now the proud owner of the 2020 VXR 28″ bow. All the minor issues I experienced with the Triax were completely gone on the new VXR. 70lb, 30″draw, is easy to hold, valley, backwall, draw cycle, quiet, dead in hand are all top notch. My experience thus far has been excellent. No buyers remorse here.

I’ve owned several bows from the top (and some obscure) brands but never a Mathews. Quite frankly, I always thought it was just “the popular kid on the block”. Well, shot the new VXR28 and now I am a proud owner. You hear it over and over but this is the quietest, most dead in the hand, stable bow I’ve ever shot. Was a little skeptical of the 6″ brace height ( my last bow was 7 5/8″) but this thing rocks. Way to go Mathews, great bow!

I am a Canadian and it’s very hard to buy the VXR 28 So I went to Lynden Washington to Dave’s sport shop and ordered a left-handed model and now I am going to be waiting 8 weeks for my bow. I tested right handed model VXR28 So it was a bit unfair to judge the Matthews because I was shooting with my wrong hand. However to my surprise I was able to draw back the 70 pound bow and hold it at the back wall for as long as I wanted. I find that impressive because I have never pulled back on a right handed bow before. It definitely was awkward but the fact that I could do it was impressive to me. After doing this several times I felt the draw cycle was a little stiff but was manageable and when I get my left-handed VRX I don’t think that would be a problem at all. Very impressed with the back wall .(solid) I like the fact that it’s American made and the Matthews quality is considered one of the best bows out there.

I love the vxr28 very smooth draw, the back wall felt great. When you shoot the VXR you don’t feel any vibration in your hands and that is without a stabilizer. Honestly Mathews should just continue to make the vxr line it shoots way better than the V3.
